Sepsis Awareness and Education
SHARE :

September is Sepsis Awareness Month. Each year in the U.S., sepsis kills over 350,000 adults and 6,800 children. The Sepsis Alliance reports that more than 1.7 million people are diagnosed with sepsis each year in the U.S., including 75,000 children. It is the top cause of hospital readmissions and the leading cause of death in U.S. hospitals*.

For LAMMICO insured hospitals and facilities, we offer complimentary sepsis education through our risk management platform, Medical Interactive (MI). Some of the online courses include:

  • Sepsis: Early Recognition and Treatment
  • Sepsis in Pregnancy
  • Maternal Sepsis, six-part series

Accessing Education

The MI website is your one-stop site for LAMMICO’s comprehensive library of online Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) courses. Nearly all of our online CME courses are eligible to satisfy MOC Part II requirements. If you are a LAMMICO policyholder, taking our online courses is as easy as logging in at lammico.com/login. LAMMICO-insured hospital and facility users can log in at medicalinteractive.com/login. All the educational courses and other products on MI – monographs, videos, slideshows and articles, for example – are free for LAMMICO insureds!

Grant

In addition, this year's LAMMICO Patient Safety Award and Grant Program topic is early recognition of sepsis. See below for details about it and how to participate.
