Cyberattacks on Small and Medium-Sized Practices are on the Rise
SHARE :

According to an article recently published in the HIPAA Journal, there was a marked increase in cyberattacks focused on small- to medium-sized healthcare organizations in 2020. While larger healthcare organizations are still a target of cyberattacks, they often have more advanced IT security protections in place to protect their sensitive data. Small and medium-sized practices often have the same sensitive information but fewer protections in place, making them an easier target for cyber criminals looking to make a quick profit.

So how can healthcare providers improve their security and better protect their practices? The article offers some guidance on such issues as being aware of potential phishing emails, remote desktop vulnerabilities and out of date systems. LAMMICO offers insureds further cybersecurity guidance and education via the TMHCC CyberNET® resource. More information on that resource and our Cyber Liability Coverage is below.
