The Joint Commission's (TJC) new Telehealth Accreditation Program for eligible hospitals, ambulatory, and behavioral healthcare organizations, launches July 1, 2024.
TJC notes "this program is intended for healthcare organizations that exclusively provide care, treatment, and services via telehealth and for healthcare organizations that provide services via telehealth to another organization’s patients." Hospitals and other healthcare organizations that have written agreements to provide care, treatment, and services via telehealth to another organization’s patients have the option to apply for this new accreditation.
The accreditation requirements include topics such as leadership, human resources, emergency management, information management, medication management, patient identification, documentation, provision of care, record of care, patient rights and more.
