On May 3, 2020 the CDC added information to its guidance for pediatric healthcare providers regarding the incubation period and clinical presentation of COVID-19 in pediatric patients:
- In recent studies, the reported incubation period among pediatric patients ranged from 2 to 10 days (incubation is 2 to 14 days in adults).
- Illness among pediatric cases appears to be mild, with most cases presenting with symptoms of upper respiratory infection such as fever, cough, nasal congestion, rhinorrhea and sore throat; however, they may not initially present with fever and cough as adults do.
